Voices - The Genesis at Colyton High
Months ago, the conversation started: How can we support schools and students. This took place with my uso, Pastor Albert, at Colyton High. He shared his experiences over the past 30 years in the Mt Druitt and St Marys area specifically—the very area I was told not to move to in 2016 but now call home.
I turned to my older brother—someone I trust completely in this field. We’ve travelled down some roads together through good and bad, but we’re at an age now of understanding the purpose. I watched many give up on my bro and heard many say it was a bad idea for us to work together again but truth be told. What we see today in me was influenced heavily through my brothers mentoring decades ago and is the reason why I can lead such a responsibility like MATAI. “One bullet left in the chamber. One last go around"
Fast forward 20 weeks: We launched our program - Voices, onboarded a second school, and have more heading into 2025. We built MATAI Arts and Innovation as a stand alone company focusing on education, expanded with Higher Learning, and now we’re publishing our first book co-written with our students
Building this, I had to pause certain initiatives to establish partnerships. Paused on several collaborations, pause on sales and sacrifice losing a bunch of money while i figure it out.
It means letting go of relationships and sponsorships and being ready to invest to push this vision forward. To our customers and community that have kept it going we Thank you
Today, I pause to celebrate this milestone—the very first - Voices Book. A massive thank you to everyone who contributed to making it possible and most especially our master editor who also has to act as my wife sometimes
The title implements our first ever watch "Genesis"
